The three Alarm Systems, each with unique handles to identify them in
darkness or haste, consist of:
The Diving Alarm;
GREEN
Top, Square. An "ah-oo-ga"
sound produced by motor driven alarms.
The Collision Alarm;
RED
Middle, Round. A rising siren signal sound.
The General Alarm;
YELLOW
Bottom, Straight. A gong sound at 100 beats per minute, ten seconds.
Both the Collision and General Alarms are produced by signal generators in the amplifier stack and
sounded through 1MC speakers, or horns, in each compartment.
Other class submarines may have different locations for these alarms.
A Reactor Casualty Alarm;
PURPLE,
Triangle, may be installed in the Control and Engine Rooms of
certain Nuclear Submarines;
but was not initially installed on the SHARK, nor were the Missile Alarms. |
